AMSOIL has a documented history of innovation and leadership.

  • First to develop an API-rated 100 percent synthetic motor oil.
  • First to introduce the concept of “extended drain intervals” with a recommended 25,000-mile/1-year drain interval.
  • First U.S. company to utilize the NOACK volatility test as a standard of performance excellence.
  • First to produce synthetic motor oils for diesel engines, racing engines, turbo and marine engines.
  • First to introduce synthetic oils that legitimately contribute to improving fuel efficiency.
  • First to manufacture synthetic gear lube for automotive use.
  • First to manufacture a 100:1 pre-mix synthetic 2-cycle oil.
  • First to manufacture a synthetic automatic transmission fluid for automotive use.

Question: How can I run a 50WT (20W50) Amsoil engine oil in my motorcycle transmission when it calls for a 90WT?
Answer: A SAE Gear Oil scale is separate and side by side to Engine oils. A 90WT in cSt centistokes is the same viscosity spread which is covered by the high end of a 40WT engine oil to the low end of a 50WT engine oil. Use only a oil proven not to sheer and remain the correct viscosity.

Think of how much less oil is needed when Toronto truck owners adapt to the AMSOIL bypass system. When using AMSOIL, be sure to check out the By-Pass filtration systems as By-Pass systems here.

Many would find it difficult to believe but this system typically allows oil change intervals to exceed 100,000 miles when using AMSOIL.
We have several different kits for all vehicles, both diesel and gasoline.

There is a high demand for all of our synthetic lubricants in this area but especially the Motorcycle, Diesel and two cycle products for your sled. We usually have what you need in stock but if it’s not here it will be in a day. The HQ is only just up the street from us in Mississagua.

For your gasoline vehicle try our 100% full PAO Synthetics with our AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Oil filters. These are regulated and guaranteed at 25,000 miles and are rated at 15 micron with 98% efficiency at that particle size. No other filter company displays the full equation.
As you look through the site please ask for your free AMSOIL catalog before leaving.

With AMSOIL in gasoline engines you simply reach 25,000 miles or one year before draining your oil. All products are produced in the USA.

Made with premium-grade full synthetic media. Ea Oil Filters feature advanced full synthetic nanofiber technology, making them the highest efficiency filters that are available for the auto/light truck market. AMSOIL EaO Filters are guaranteed for 25,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, when used in conjunction with AMSOIL synthetic motor oil in normal service. In severe service, change oil and filter at recommended severe service oil drain interval. The filters are manufactured by Donaldson using their nano-fiber for AMSOIL specifications. The only 15 micron FULL FLOW oil filter available for cars and light trucks.

Also contact us for all your 2-cycle, racing motor oils, synthetic greases and transmission gear and hydraulic fluids. For watercraft our Interceptor 2-cycle injector oil is one of the best selling items in the industry. Great for Sea Doo. Clean power valve operation for less cost. For outboard use the HP Injector Oil.

Also don’t forget about our best selling product as of late. The Motorcycle line. One important aspect of this line listed below:

Improved Transmission Protection

Viscosity is the most important characteristic of a lubricant. Motorcycle gears create a shearing effect that causes permanent oil viscosity loss. This thinning effect reduces the oil’s ability to prevent metal-to-metal contact and wear. The stability and natural operating temperature ranges of the premium synthetic base stocks used to formulate AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils eliminate shear and reduce wear. AMSOIL Synthetic Motorcycle Oils exhibit absolute shear stability as measured by the Kurt Orbon shear stability test.

“Toronto temp extremes can ruin an engine (in storage), you knew that – but our customers who use AMSOIL in their bikes all say the same thing. Surprisingly lower temperatures in both air and water cooled engines. Even more we hear comments on shifting and gear mesh improvements. AMSOIL’s new Motorcycle oils last three times longer or up to one year now thanks to added rust protection. No other product can offer this!”

Drivetrain Lubricants

Like motor oil additives, drivetrain fluid additives improve the protection and performance capabilities of the base oil. Many of the challenges faced by drivetrain
fluids are met by the additives.

AMSOIL ATF

• Extreme-pressure and anti-wear agents minimize
component wear in boundary lubrication situations.
• Pour point depressants improve low-temperature
performance.
• Rust and corrosion inhibitors protect internal
components.
• Oxidation inhibitors reduce the deteriorating effects
of heat, increasing the lubricant’s service life.
• Viscosity index improvers allow the lubricant to
operate over a broader temperature range.
• Anti-foam agents reduce the harmful effects of air
trapped in a lubricant.
• Friction modifiers reduce friction.

AMSOIL Severe Gear® Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) Gear Lubes are specifically engineered for maximum performance in severe-duty applications.
Featuring an exclusive blend of high viscosity, shear stable synthetic base oils and an extra treatment of high-performance additives, Severe Gear maintains its viscosity for long-lasting protection against metal-to-metal contact. The proprietary AMSOIL additives form an iron-sulfide barrier coating on gear surfaces, providing the ultimate line of defense against wear, pitting and scoring.

AMSOIL Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is engineered to exceed the performance requirements of domestic and foreign automatic transmission
fluids, offering smooth shifting, long transmission life and excellent lubricating protection and performance in temperature extremes.

New AMSOIL ATL for Mercon SP, Toyota SP and Dexron VIAMSOIL Synthetic Fuel Efficient Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATL) is engineered to exceed the requirements of GM, Ford and Toyota where low viscosity oil is required, providing outstanding protection and performance over extended drain intervals,
even in severe operating conditions.

Industry Further Inches Towards AMSOIL as the Synthetic Of Choice

In a Dealer newsletter I read recently, the author shared the sentiment that “there has never been a better time to be an AMSOIL Dealer.” We have all heard this before. Maybe even too many times. I have said it myself. But each time I have said it, it was true. With each succeeding year we see forces within the industry pushing even harder toward increased demand for synthetic lubricants. Along with that, of course, is the continued push toward extended drain intervals. The world is catching on. The demand for our products is increasing, and, yes, the opportunity does keep getting better for AMSOIL Dealers.

It is not difficult to identify some of the circumstances throughout the years that have advanced our cause. In the mid-seventies when Mobil 1 was introduced, many Dealers expressed concern. They feared that with a second synthetic motor oil now on the market, our sales would suffer. I knew, however, that Mobil’s near-limitless advertising budget would ultimately
work in our favor. They would spend millions to help educate the public on the benefits of synthetic oil. They did, and we grew.

It was about this time that gasoline was in short supply and prices soared. Fuel economy became a major concern, and our gas-guzzlers of the sixties were being replaced by more fuel efficient compacts. As the need among consumers to cut fuel costs increased, our Dealers capitalized with sales of lubricants that actually did make a difference. We are seeing similar concerns with fuel economy today, particularly in the commercial market.

Another significant event impacted the demand for synthetics. This one more subtle, perhaps, than the Mobil 1 introduction, but significant nonetheless, especially as an indicator of where the industry was headed. In early 1991, General Motors halted sales of the Corvette ZR-1. Eight engines had seized at its Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant. The temperature had
dipped to slightly below freezing and, at start-up, hard to-
pump motor oil did not reach the front camshaft bearings. They were destroyed by lack of lubrication.

GM responded by requiring the use of synthetic oil in the Corvette, as well as its Cyclone pickup truck. It was the fi rst time an American auto manufacturer had required, not just recommended, but required the use of a synthetic oil as a factory fill. It was clear to me then that GM’s decision was just the beginning. More factory fills would follow. The door had just opened a little wider for AMSOIL Dealers.

Not long after the Corvette was treated to synthetic oil, virtually all the other oil manufacturers introduced synthetics of their own. They, like Mobil, spent millions advertising their “ground-breaking” new products. Castrol alone spent $25 million. The floodgates had opened, and as awareness among consumers reached an all-time high, our sales continued to climb.

Today, of course, consumer awareness has never been greater. According to one source, the demand for synthetic motor oil is projected to grow at a rate of more than 7.3 percent per year through 2013. Others have projected even higher rates. Growth is expected to continue in the light vehicle market, with a strong
push in the medium and heavy-duty truck markets. Transmission fluids and hydraulic oils are also expected to increase in demand. There are other trends working in our favor. Drivers are keeping their vehicles longer. They are putting tens of thousands of more miles on their current vehicles than they put on their previous vehicles. That means thousands of more dollars spent on maintenance. As this trend continues, we’ll see demand for our products increase and opportunities for our Dealers expand.

Our established and well-deserved reputation as the leader in extended drain technology will continue to create opportunities, as well. As it stands now, the majority of drivers have moved beyond the 3,000 mile drain. Reports suggest that the average person changes oil every 4,500 miles, which may be conservative. And now, as auto manufacturers continue to extend their oil drain recommendations, that number will increase.
Those who purchase a Ford today are instructed by their
owner’s manual to change their oil at 7,500 miles. GM owners are instructed to change theirs according to their oil monitoring systems. In some cases, that can go well over 10,000 miles. GM went as far as endorsing the California Environmental Protection Agency’s “3,000 Mile Myth” campaign to educate drivers on extended drain intervals and reducing oil consumption.

This all leads to even more opportunity for AMSOIL Dealers. The movement toward synthetic lubricants and extended drain intervals has gained irreversible momentum, and the future for our Dealers has never looked brighter. In fact, and I’ll let you finish the line for me, “There has never been a better time…”

Our new 0W-20 Motor Oil in the crankcase of a modern vehicle guarantees it will deliver the best fuel economy it is capable of. With a very low volatility rate, oil consumption and emissions are greatly reduced. This is the ‘oil of the future’ here today thanks to AMSOIL. But it won’t be the last new oil we make. Stay tuned!
Also introduced in this issue is our newly reformulated PI Performance Improver Gasoline Additive. It is the most effective gasoline additive available today and makes gasoline engines perform the way they were designed to. PI cleans and keeps clean fuel injectors, combustion chambers, valves, and pistons.
Every vehicle tested using this new fuel additive experienced improved fuel economy (up to 5.7%). It also acts as an “emissions passer” and is ideal for use before emissions inspections. It’s also more convenient to use. Just add one bottle of the new PI to 20 gallons of gasoline every 4,000 miles or 100 hours . You can’t find a more effective or easier way to get the best performance from a vehicle!

Coping With Complexity

by Ed Newman
AMSOIL Director of Advertising – Canada Office
This article appeared in Toronto Oil & Lube News, August 2009

I recently heard a story about someone who said he wished his computer was as simple to operate as his phone. He got his wish. Phones are so complicated he can’t figure his out any more.

By now you’ve noticed that life, at least here in Western Civilization, is more complicated than it used to be. The evidence is all around us. For example, when many of us were young there were only three TV stations, unless you were from a major metro area like New York. But when cable came along we suddenly had dozens, then hundreds. And with internet video options, it’s thousands.

Medical care used to be easier, too. You went to the doctor and after a diagnosis he prescribed a medicine. Today we have a whole range of health services, from traditional to alternative, herbal to homeopathic. We’re ushered to specialists from allergists to urologists and everything in between. If we get prescriptions we no longer just listen to our doctors but go online to see what the side effects will be and what alternatives there might be, whether herbal supplements or aroma therapies.

So it’s no surprise that our cars are more complicated as well. In the old days you popped the hood and with a minimum of training could figure out many repairs all by yourself. Just use a little applied logic and elbow grease. Nowadays, you open the hood and can hardly find your engine because it is buried beneath a mass of cables, couplings and devices.  Exhaust gas recycling, direct fuel injection, variable speed transmissions, electro-magnetic valve actuators, connectors, brain boxes, sensors and chips… It’s a whole new world.

RESPONSES TO COMPLEXITY
There are a variety of ways people respond to complexity. Some people retreat from it, others get jazzed by it. Many of us have found, however, that as systems become increasingly complex they also become increasingly unpredictable. Ultimately, the law of unintended consequences and subsequent failings undercuts our confidence in what we think we know.  This can lead to insecurity, though as Dave Barry notes, guys can often mask their insecurity by walking around with large tools in their hands.

The study of complexity has become one of the newest branches of science. In his book Making Things Work, Yaneer Bar-Yam applies insights from this new science to everyday problems. Early in the book Bar-Yam shows how many problems occur because people focus too much on details without a reference to the bigger picture. It is the old dilemma of not being able to see the forest for the trees.

In the auto industry, numerous problems have been created when engineers make modifications in one particular without seeing its full impact on the whole. I will cite just one example because it has a bearing on lube selection. That detail is aerodynamics.

As early as the 1920’s auto engineers began to consider the aerodynamics of a car, with wind tunnels eventually being used to define shapes and styling for improved airflow benefits. Though now replaced with computer-aided design tools, the ultimate goal of
reducing drag to improve fuel economy has been a perpetual pursuit. Unfortunately, one of the adjustments to improve air flows was to bring the drivetrain up tighter into the belly of the undercarriage. Transmissions and differentials were suddenly running hotter, so hot in fact that interior carpets have caught fire during some tests where SUVs were pulling heavy loads.

Synthetic transmission fluids and gear lubes are useful for addressing this issue, helping reduce internal friction to keep parts running cooler as well as more efficiently.

In fact, synthetic motor oils and drivetrain fluids have been discovered as a solution for many of the issues auto engineers have encountered while in pursuit of improved engine design and function. The high torque and tight tolerances in the Corvette led GM to make synthetics the designated factory fill back in the 90’s. Several years ago Toyota had a problem with gummy sludge interfering with important sensors, with subsequent negative consequences for engine operation. Synthetic motor oils that resisted oxidation and sludge formation helped keep this negative at bay.

IS MOTOR OIL TOO COMPLICATED?
There are some who might suggest that synthetic motor oils and other specialty oils have made the motor oil field too complicated. I would suggest that this complexity can be simplified quite easily with a single question.  Is your customer driving a vehicle with a mechanically sound engine?  If yes, then he should be using a premium synthetic motor oil. It will protect his engine longer and keep it running more efficiently than a conventional motor oil. Stress from temperature extremes, deposits left from unavailable detergents in conventional oils and poor quality base stocks all play a toll over time for the Toronto driver.

As for viscosity selection, just check the owner’s manual and you’ll be good to go. Unless I’m missing something, this prescription seems pretty clear and simple to me. Why don’t you give Mr. Policelli a call at the Mississauga Sales center at 905-510-9437.
