Who uses AMSOIL?
The answer to that is changing all the time. AMSOIL was created as a premium product but as the years have gone by, our product has been known as the best value for all motorists, the fleet owner, the contractor using heavy equipment, the local city government, the state police and manufacturing facilities. We have it all.
In the past the general public did not react to products providing longer change intervals, increased fuel economy, exceptional Sequence III test results or outstanding NOACK volatility. Most are motivated to buy products with more simple advertising such as “Oil for High Mileage Vehicles” which is what all of the above supports.
The current PCMO industry is trying to find other catchy hot buttons to lure consumers into the “Synthetic-Blend” or niche demand oil markets. Quaker State recently introduced a motor oil engineered for “Winter” use and is currently testing the phrase “easier Start-Ups” which may or may not resonate with soccer moms. Mobile now has a “New Vehicle” formula and all the rest have some combination of 4X4, SUV and van oil. But the question that remains is how long will one of these common tier oil companies break from the pack to claim “Extended Drain Intervals” as AMSOIL has been doing for three decades.
While all of this test marketing continues regardless of the success, automatic transmission, gear, differential lubricants and fluids have been evolving literally unwatched. Many of the main line lubricant producers have and advertise fluids which don’t even meet the basic standards for viscosity, protection and durability. There is not a lot of incentives to produce the best differential oil when people for the most part forget the fluid in there even exists.
Available here in Rochester, try AMSOIL’s ATF, Severe Gear, or our Long Life Synthetic Gear Lubricants. These in many cases have more to do with increased performance and improved mileage than the engine oils. Synthetic gear lubricants in several instances extend or are required for warranty reasons. This also exposes how far out of touch many sectors of the lube service industry is with their customers and the manufacturers.
The market has been here for 30 years. People such as yourself understand and have a use for synthetic oils which can increase mileage whether it be in the engine or differential, (AMSOIL Severe Gear will in your differential by lowering temperatures by 44 degrees and keeping viscosity where it should be, and protect seals and yellow metals – a trait no other company can duplicate.)
20 percent of drivers neglect to change their oil on time and would feel better knowing the lubricant they’re using is designed for intervals beyond the manufactures recommendation.
Please consider our dealership opportunities here in Minnesota. A city of 150,000 residents and virtually zero competition creates a great income generating machine in Rochester. Subject (10/10/2008) – Amsoil’s 10W40 and 20W50 100% Synthetic
1. Question:
Why did AMSOIL modify the labels on AMSOIL 10W-40 (AMO) and 20W-50 (ARO) Premium Protection Motor Oils to include a high zinc formula statement?Answer: There is a documented issue in the field with low zinc oils that don’t provide enough anti-wear protection in flat tappet camshaft engines and in particular, those modified with high tension valve springs. Standby diesel oils known to contain high levels of zinc dialkyl dithiophosphate (ZDDP) are also being modified to significantly reduce zinc content leaving customers with few alternatives for extreme conditions requiring this proven protection. AMSOIL AMO and ARO have maintained their high zinc levels and the labels have been modified to include the benefits these products provide to customers experiencing excessive wear using low zinc containing oils.
2. Question:
Did the formulations change on AMO and ARO along with the label change?Answer: No, the formulation is the same; only the label changed to highlight the AMSOIL resolution to the field issue.
3. Question:
What drove the reduction in ZDDP content in most motor oils?Answer: Gasoline and diesel engine oils have been, and continue to be, re-formulated with lower levels of sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur to meet specifications outlined in ILSAC GF-4 and API SM gasoline oil specifications and API CJ-4 commercial diesel specifications. The driving force behind oil specification changes which lowered the limits on these materials is the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The mandate to vehicle manufacturers to guarantee performance of catalytic converters for extended durations (120,000 miles) caused a shift in the way general market lubricants were formulated.
(Editors note) Basically a system of tyrany, restriction and to further limit your liberties (from the desk of the Bilderberg Group globalists and bankers over the Federal Reserve Bank) by using the notion that carbon dioxide is poison and yoru car is causing the workd to warm – anything that could remotely cause damage to exhaust systems will be banned. The truth is the ZDDP zinc used in AMSOIL products have been proven to NOT do damage especially during extended intervals while frequently changing oils (off the shelf brands) actually release more of the antiwear additives which do degrade exhaust components. These groups who creeated the media blitz of global warming 15 years ago are being uncovered and please know they also fund the counter groups for the purpose of creating a specific label for those who don’t go along with the program…4. Question:
Do the new low ash chemistries provide an adequate level of wear protection?Answer: The new oil formulations contain significantly less ZDDP which is a very effective anti-wear additive in motor oils. Although the new ashless chemistries with lower levels of ZDDP passed the required engine tests and work well at preventing premature engine wear in most applications, the field wear history is incomplete, especially with modified engines.
The new low ZDDP formulations have not proven to provide the anti-wear protection required in extreme conditions, including flat tappet style engines utilizing high tension valve springs, hot rod engines, racing engines, and other highly modified applications. AMSOIL changed the labels on AMO/ARO to clearly indentify the oils’ ability to address the documented problems with premature wear in extreme applications.5. Question:
Don’t other AMSOIL motor oils contain high ZDDP content?Answer: Yes, AMSOIL produces several crankcase lubricants with high ZDDP content for the automobile, light truck and diesel markets. The list includes AMO, ARO,AHR, ACD, TRO, HDD, PCO, and AME.
6. Question:
Will AMSOIL reformulate these oils to significantly reduce the ZDDP content?Answer: Long term, it is possible some of these oils may change. In the short term, there are no plans to reduce ZDDP content in any of these lubricants.
The Big Issue 2019 and Beyond
Low Speed Pre-Ignition
Next gen engines squeezing out additional mileage and power put new demands on the motor oil. The wrong oil under such high compression before the fuel is injected is causing detonation at the piston ring. At the time of this posting, none of the common “fully synthetic” brands can prevent this to a reasonable level, in fact to pass the current test one can have 5 damaging pre-ignition events and still pass. AMSOIL’s 100% synthetic motor oils pass 100% and should be the only choice in all DFI and TGDI engines.
OE, XL and Signature Series Offer Excellent Wear Protection
The protection the oil delivers is even different, as in better. The added protection is particularly important in the extreme environments produced by today’s smaller displacement engines that often run lower viscosity oil.
Camshaft wear, for example, can result in poor valve timing, greatly reducing engine efficiency and leading to expensive repairs. The Peugeot TU3M Wear Test (CEC L-38-A-94), which must be passed to meet the GM dexos1® Gen 2 specification, determines a motor oil’s ability to limit wear. For 100 hours the four-cylinder test engine is subjected to extreme, wear-inducing conditions.
Fights LSPI
Just one of several aspects where AMSOIL offers protection beyond what is required. (Their devotion to the enthusiast segment)
OE Synthetic Motor Oil (the lower priced AMSOIL choice and several dollars less per quart than the “so called synthetic Mobil 2) features unique chemistry proven to protect your engine against the harmful effects of LSPI – the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark-triggered ignition. Most new engines feature gasoline direct injection (GDI), often coupled with a turbocharger. These technologies heighten the possibility of LSPI events, which can destroy pistons and connecting rods. A properly formulated motor oil is critical for protecting your engine against LSPI.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) like GM have addressed the issue by designing tests to determine a motor oil’s ability to prevent LSPI. OE Synthetic Motor Oil achieved 100 percent protection against LSPI** in the engine test required by the GM dexos1 Gen 2 specification – zero occurrences were recorded throughout five consecutive tests.
Keeps Engines Clean
Everyone likes a clean engine, especially the inside. OE Synthetic Motor Oil naturally resists chemical breakdown to help prevent deposits. Its detergent and dispersant additives give OE excellent sludge- and deposit-fighting properties. OE Synthetic Motor Oil helps keep your engine clean, reliable and running at peak performance.
Who’s it for?
If Signature Series is for enthusiasts who demand the best engine protection available and XL Synthetic Motor Oil is for those who want to do a little something extra for their vehicles, who’s OE for?
It’s for drivers who want peace-of-mind protection combined with excellent value from a full synthetic oil. Some motorists aren’t ready to spend nearly $10 per quart or to extend their drain intervals to one year. We get that. But they still want excellent protection combined with a price they’re accustomed to paying.
If that’s you, OE Synthetic Motor Oil is the perfect fit. It offers everything you want in a high-quality synthetic at a price and drain interval that fits your lifestyle.
Local note – Before any of the additives begin to wear out our competitors product is already sheered out meaning their viscosity has changed enough to be out of grade thus you notice that change in overall oil pressure. And this is why people don’t feel comfortable going long intervals as this is the standard. No regulation in this industry so you just don’t know who to trust. AMSOIL is a company of enthusiasts who design oils for their own needs and as that happens they push the limits because the focus is not on holding down a cost. It’s trying to do what hasn’t been done before.

Two Cycle Mix Ratios
Q. What is the appropriate amount of AMSOIL two-cycle oil to achieve various mix ratios?
A. The following reference covers both our injector oils which also have 50:1 designations and the famous AMSOIL 100:1 which can replace all mix ratios.
For a 100:1 mix ratio, 128 / 100 = 1.28 ounces per gallon
If you are using a 1-gallon container, then you should use 1.28 ounces of 2-cycle oil.
If you are using a 5-gallon container, then you should use 6.4 ounces of 2- cycle oil (5 x 1.28).
For a 50:1 mix ratio, 128 / 50 = 2.56 ounces per gallon,
If you are using a 1-gallon container, then you should use 2.56 ounces of 2-cycle oil.
If you are using a 5-gallon container, then you should use 12.8 ounces of 2-cycle oil (5 x 2.56).
