APPLICATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Power Sports Synthetic Motor Oil is recommended for four-stroke engines. It is also recommended for transmissions in two- or four-stroke applications. It is an all-climate/all-season oil that replaces 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-30, 10W-30 and 10W-40 oils for ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles and other powersports equipment. Also recommended as a replacement for Polaris Synthetic PS-4 Plus and Arctic Cat Synthetic ACX. COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL Formula 4-Stroke Power Sports Synthetic Motor Oil is compatible with conventional and synthetic motor oils. Mixing AMSOIL motor oils with other oils, however, will shorten the oil’s life expectancy and reduce its performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.
Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL motor oils.

Oil (0W-40) in applications that call for OEM-labeled 50-weight oils?
Len Groom: As the graph shows, while Polaris Synthetic PS-4 Plus and Arctic Cat Synthetic ACX motor oils fall within a 50-weight viscosity range directly from the bottle, both quickly shear down into the 40-weight range. AMSOIL subjected both oils along with Formula 4-Stroke Power Sports Oil to ASTM D-7109
shear stability testing, and after only 30 passes, both OEM labeled oils sheared out of their starting viscosity grades.
After 90 passes, the Polaris oil lost over 33 percent of its viscosity, while the Arctic Cat oil lost over 30 percent. The AMSOIL product, however, lost less than 5 percent. Its exceptional shear stability allows it to protect high-RPM ATV engines as well as or better than both 50-weight OEM oils.

I don’t know where to start but this single product has produced more positive local feedback than any other product I stock other than the PI Fuel additive. It just goes to show the difference in brands.
I have many customers from Texas to South Dakota who comment on the high and low temperature improvements since switching. In Texas especially in Yamaha ATVs the AMSOIL really makes them run smooth when they get hot. No more vibrations. In South Dakota the low temperature properties have people saying their ATVs just feel ready to work right at start-up which has brought us a lot of new customers.
The #1 comment on our synthetic ATV oil is regarding how smooth the engine runs. Almost if they didn’t notice the vibration till it was gone. I sum it up as the engine is really running as it was meant to for the first time. With AMSOIL you enjoy base stocks which really hold the moving parts in suspension. That said, AMSOIL AFF ATV oil may be even better for that engine with high wear – Amsoil will make up for the poor viscosity retention the OEM brands exhibit.

Some of the other lads in that forum mention their use of Rotella T Synthetic which is a diesel oil. The posts were in 2006, but what they may not realize now that in 2007 the diesel oil anti wear additive packages and detergents is no longer enough for these types of powersports applications. Diesel CJ4 ratings are designed for specific engine changes which were mandated by the EPA that year. ATV engines must have the higher zinc and detergent levels as they operate under different RPM and temperature extremes.
