AMSOIL Automotive Products
Increase Reliability & Efficiency in Automotive Systems
What makes AMSOIL synthetic motor oils so good? Synthetics protect quickly in cold temperatures, maintain a dependable lubricating film in normal operating temperatures and shield moving parts from damage and wear during high stress & high temperature operation. AMSOIL is unique because of the selection of base stocks. You can learn the truth of the Origins of Synthetics and how the majority of the industry has downgraded the mix quietly. |
Our two best selling automotive products are the AMSOIL 5W30 (ASL) and the ATF. The ASL is guaranteed to last up to 25,000 miles or 1-YR whichever comes first in gasoline engines. Even when switching from other well known synthetics, our customers experience increased performance such as this customer.
The AMSOIL ATF is a real problem solver. Often customers call with temperature related problems (including police cars w/ long idling) or situations where the transmission fluid is burnt prematurely causing poor performance & damage. With AMSOIL ATF problem solved.

Don’t forget to examine our Bypass kits
The above is in our 1983 AMC eagle. Adding oil capacity allows additives to last even longer wile 100% filtration at 2-microns.
This one was installed in a dealer’s 2007 Subaru Forester. Amsoil’s bypass kits are among our best-selling items with 25 years of miles tested!! Click on the photo to see the detail of this easy install. No more likely oil changes – just analysis and follow the instructions with filter change outs.
Often a customer asks me on the phone, “Why don’t you guys sell a product like Redline’s Water Wetter?” Well the answer to that is we do! Thanks to 100’s of customers requesting that AMSOIL just finished research and design of an improved version quite versatile for all applications.
We call it Dominator Coolant Boost. The water or coolant becomes more efficient as a heat transfer agent even more so than other brands.
Designed for cars, trucks, motorcycles and any racing conditions, it allows you to get more cooling capacity out of straight water. The key is to use NON-Distilled water and preferably use softened water for the best results. Amsoil’s initial lab tests proved up to a 19 degree drop in water temperatures when the product was used against plain tap water.
The main reason I like to sell this is because the other feature is a alkalinity booster. In most cases you can boost your anti-corrosion properties with this product. Rust and corrosion is devastating and occurs to the lowest maintained system in your car.
This product has a lot of info to go with it so please visit our main page on the Coolant Booster and try for yourself. Try it out and let us know what you think. AMSOIL listens to you the customer and advances the state of the art of maximum engine efficiency whether your car is a 55 Olds, 63 Studebaker Avanti, 66 Pontiac Catalina 2+2, Honda Goldwing,or a Subaru WRX.
See how AMSOIL Coolant Boost compares to Redline Water Wetter.
Breaking News – Valvoline’s 300,000 mile engine guarantee? Well you must change the oil at 3000 mile intervals (using their “full” synthetic) which most would take 20 years and requires the use of about 550 quarts while in that time AMSOIL would have yielded better performance and guarantee with only 66 quarts. You could have bought a new engine with the money spent on time and oil to adhere to Valvoline’s sneaky deal.
New updated Las Vegas Taxi Cab Field Study – April 2014
“Although the taxi company typically changed transmission fluid every 20,000 miles, the drain interval in the test vehicle presented in this study using AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic ATF was extended to more than 180,000 miles – 3X original equipment manufacturer recommendations – to increase severity.”
AMSOIL published the first edition of the Las Vegas Taxi Cab Field Study in April 2013. Results demonstrated the excellent performance of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants in severe-service commercial applications operating in the searing Las Vegas heat. The original transmission accumulated more than 102,000 miles on a single fluid change. To further test the capabilities of AMSOIL Signature Series
Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Transmission Fluid, it was installed in another taxi that was operated for 12,891 hours (183,705 miles) – 3X original equipment manufacturer recommendations – on a single fluid change. Those results are presented here along with the engine results from the first edition of this study.

*Is Your Motor Oil Science Or Marketing? *
There are so many terms and words used on most packages of our competing synthetic brands which don’t mean a thing!
Full synthetic means the product is completely made up the lowest market priced base stock the Federal Trade Commission allows to be called a synthetic. (Only allowed in the US)
In other words, it’s 100% highly refined petroleum oil! These base stocks perform well but are no match for what a “100% Synthetic” can offer such as better oxidation resistance, viscosity retention, guaranteed extended intervals, lower volatility, additive stability and even lifetime oil fills when proper filtration and analysis is used.
Many of those who previously had 100% on the label are now “Full Synthetic” and one of those companies even took that term to court, lost, then switched to the cheaper Group III they were battling against but never adjusted their retail pricing to reflect the quality – all just to increase margins for the stockholder. They no longer can say Made in USA.
These categorization of these groups are quite sophisticated although many sources on the net have you believe these are grouped only based on the quality rating of “Viscosity Index” – Not true.
Group III oils are in the highly refined petroleum oil category and real synthetic base stocks are found in the Group IV and V category. In some cases a blend is of higher quality than “Fully Synthetic”.
With AMSOIL when you see 100% synthetic you know it’s the real McCoy because the FTC does not allow it on the label unless it’s true and everyone of our competitors know it’s true!
Ask any competitor in the head office – “Who makes the best engine oils?” and they will say AMSOIL.
What do I say? “AMSOIL allows you to Experience performance for the FIRST TIME!”
Hugh Dowding, CEO of Polartech Ltd says, “If I could change anything in the lubricants industry, I would get regulators and end users to understand the true value of lubricants. It’s a vital industry and no one realizes or appreciates its value!”
Service centers are now looking for ways to be more competitive. For some this is easy as just by offering AMSOIL Extended Life (XL) Series Synthetic Engine oils for a twice a year oil change, or the low priced AMSOIL OE for a OEM change interval which allows for the service center to see their customer multiple times per year but to step customers up to synthetic w/o paying the price of Mobil 1.
Of the centers that have added value based private label products such as AMSOIL, they report more new repeat business. Buy direct here and save on product cost and install yourself.
You could virtually open a ALL Synthetic lube center featuring AMSOIL in any large US market and although most of your customers would only visit you once per year for oil changes, transmission flushes and other services, just from being honest and educating the customer you would of the bat earn about 20% of all the customers currently using the dealership and quick lubes for service.
Having a shop as mentioned above you could have a customer education center as their vehicles are being serviced which would earn you customers for life. Add our fleet program which saves an average fleet of 20 trucks $30,000 in one year and the market is yours.
NEW: Gear Lube Technical Service Bulletin – Operating Conditions in Differentials
Jeep Liberty Diesel Owners – The Liberty with the 2.8 turbodiesel was an improved version over the European version. It’s advertised to be 30% more efficient than the gasoline engines. You can further add to the economy with our AMSOIL DHD 5W30 which is perfect for reduced emission diesel engines which operate at higher temperatures. The Dodge Liberty comes equipped with an EGR system. AMSOIL DHD 5W30 can resist and neutralize oxidation longer and has a high viscosity index allowing for significantly longer oil life and better high and low temperature protection. You should also get that OEM gear oil out of the differential as soon as you can. AMSOIL Severe Gear will transform gear wear and significantly lower the operating temperatures. AMSOIL Severe Gear in SUV’s also protects from thermal runaway which occurs under high stress conditions.
Also be sure to use the AMSOIL diesel fuel additive and Severe Gear differential lubricants for even more efficiency.
STOP changing your oil!! Try the legendary AMSOIL BYPASS filtration systems. Here’s one on a 2002 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 (same basically as Cherokee photo below) – A VERY popular request. Call me or read more on the By-Pass systems here.
Indy Legend Swears by AMSOIL:
Check Bobby Unser Sr’s Pikes Peak Hill Climb record. There is a reason he is the winning. At a recent AMSOIL event, he was there to tell us. Bobby discovered AMSOIL when it proved to be the solution to gearbox failure problems. After converting, more finishes and zero failures. Something his competitors could not say at all.
Did you know SA and SB (1930′ through 1960’s) rated motor oils still remain on the market?
Vintage Cars – Will too much lubricant technology cause issues with our cars?
If you are using AMSOIL – the answer is absolutely not! The oil recommendations which were made by the manufacturer at that time was based on the current technology.
I am often asked at shows, why not use Mobil 1 or any of the other easy to get synthetics? Or they ask – Well don’t these newer oils lack what’s needed for older vehicles?
You cant use current API GF-4 rated oils because they don’t have the antiwear metals (ZDDP) needed. The result is Flat Tappet cam wear. Please read this service bulletin. AMSOIL has several choices to protect your investment – GUARANTEED! (AMO, RD series, HDD, ARO and others)
One may argue that an older vehicle called for a non-detergent oil thus that should be used today. Non-detergent oils unanimously cause severe problems caused by deposits and volatility. At the time they also caused great amounts of heat and would thicken rapidly from oxidation. AMSOIL used in these situations would keep the engine in the present state and oil consumption can be controlled by using the correct viscosity.
We are not saying that using synthetics in a car such as the 55 Studebaker Commander pictured below is the best solution, but I am saying using AMSOIL is the best solution because synthetics are NOT created equal!
We also hear comments about our differential fluids being used in differentials. AMSOIL Severe Gear & the AGL 80W90 is the only product to have specific additives to keep axle seals at their current pliable state. Combine this with dispersants and foam controls which are just too expensive for a publicly held company to add to the formula and you have a significant temperature reduction and wear rate improvements which result in added mileage, speed and component life.
The older the vehicle the more significant periodic greasing is needed. Worn bushings, kingpins, control linkage, front and rear bearings and steering parts all need better grease capable of staying in place, resisting water washout, more shock from wear and most importantly the best seal from dirt as possible. you will find the answers in our new AMSOIL Grease section. With AMSOIL you can still grease when you should but you will simply need less grease. We have greases for all climates too.
AMSOIL Universal Transmission Fluid is also an excellent choice for your project. The ATF may also help you to avoid the need for an external oil cooler I see people adding to performance machines. Our fluid will drop the operating temperature 50 degrees.
Do Not Use Aftermarket Oil Additives to replenish ZDDP!! They do not work and cause a corrosive condition!
I just wanted to include a photo of one of the most beautiful cars ever designed. Would be great to outfit this one with AMSOIL’s lubricants bumper to bumper. Your looking at a ’56 Continental MKII.
Changes in Motor Oil Categories for 2011 and beyond…..
Government mandates weigh heavily in the formulation of motor oils and the development of new service categories. Federal regulations for automotive performance, fuel economy and emissions limits are becoming increasingly stringent, requiring vehicle manufacturers and oil companies to develop technologies to meet these requirements. Vehicle manufacturers are developing new engines and emissions systems that meet the requirements, but they are also relying on oil manufacturers to help meet the new mandates. Government mandated corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) requirements are focused on improving the average fuel economy of vehicle manufacturers’ passenger car and light-truck fleets.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), together with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), monitors the fuel economy and emissions performance of vehicles. The average fuel economy of an OEM’s fleet of vehicles must meet the minimum CAFE standards or OEMs face costly penalties.
With all these changes happening at the same time, it can be difficult to sort out all the updates and differences between specifications. AMSOIL simplified the situation for Dealers and customers by formulating motor oils that meet or exceed performance standards in each
of the main categories. AMSOIL OE and XL Synthetic Motor Oils meet the API SN
Resource Conserving and ILSAC GF-5 performance requirements; OE 5W-30
and XL 5W-30 meet the GM dexos1 performance requirement. The top-tier line of AMSOIL synthetic motor oils will be reformulated to meet the latest industry specifications in the first quarter of 2011.

Oil Drain Intervals On the Rise
Yes they do! A recent article in Lubes ‘N’ Greases reported how the API is asleep at the wheel and several licensed products that do not meet the certifications may often go unreported. Recently one major petroleum 5W30 product was pulled from the shelves of Auto Zone and Advanced Auto in North Carolina carrying the API Starburst donut and labeled as SL. The recalled product had failed the SAE cold-cranking specification. Rather than take chances with non regulated products that will destroy your engine, we offer you the solution. AMSOIL synthetic lubricants and motor oils reduce friction and decrease oil and fuel consumption even through the duration of extended intervals which is exactly what consumers want but the industry doesn’t want you to know.
(Because the known conflicts of interests at the API, the State of North Carolina has implemented a vigorous oil monitoring program in their state’s standards division. In 2003, the State of N.C. had tested 3,639 samples of motor oils. Compare that to the 600 samples tested by the API worldwide! The State of N.C. had removed over 30,000 faulty quarts of oil from sale in the state.)
California is the only state to ban SA and SB rated oils so far. I recently saw these products on the shelf at Dollar General. These are non-detergent oils and unfortunately people with low budgets buy these thinking they are fine and end up with severe engine damage costing them more than if they used a more advanced product. ASA and SB rated oils are responsible for serious emission problems which become the fate of that engine.
The 3000-mile oil change interval has been ingrained in the American consciousness for decades. Conventional motor oil companies aggressively push it, oil change centers remind their customers to return when another 3000 miles have accumulated on the odometer and fathers teach their children to change their oil and filter according to a 3000-mile schedule.
Vehicle Manufacturers
Vehicle manufacturers, on the other hand, aren’t quite on the same page. A look at many recent-model owners manuals reveals a recommended 5000- to 7500-mile oil drain interval, while European vehicle manufacturers recommend even longer drain intervals. As the service lives of spark plugs and transmission fluids have increased, consumers have demanded longer service intervals for motor oil as well. The introduction of electronic oil life monitors on modern vehicles is beginning to push drain intervals upward. Oil life monitors typically determine when oil should be changed based on engine operating conditions such as temperature, revolutions and speed.
Almost all 2005 and later General Motors vehicles are equipped with its Oil Life System, which makes use of a color-coded system to alert the driver when it’s time to change the oil. A “yellow” condition indicates that it’s time to think about changing the oil, while a “red” condition indicates that the oil is past its service life. According to GM, the typical drain interval for vehicles equipped with the Oil Life System is 8,500 miles, which will result in a savings of 6.6 million gallons of oil and $145 million for 2005 model-year drivers over the lives of their vehicles.
General Motors is actively seeking to extend oil drain intervals even further. In fact, the company recently asserted that 20,000-mile oil drain intervals are possible with existing engine technology and synthetic oils meeting current specifications, while 30,000-mile oil change intervals are achievable with appropriate motor oil quality and minor engine modifications.
“Drain intervals are a very specific goal for GM, and are being managed in a logical and planned fashion,” says James A Spearot, director of GM’s Chemical & Environmental Sciences Laboratory in Warren, Mich.“Longer drain intervals are desirable to meet customer demands for reduced maintenance and convenience, and for the environmental benefits that come with lessoil handling. And, in the end, longer drain intervals willhelp us with our warranty protection goals.”
Motor Oil Companies
AMSOIL represented the lone voice for extended drain intervals in America for over 30 years, recommending 25,000-mile/one-year drain intervals. While extended oil drain intervals have been common in Europe for years, other American motor oil companies have mostly avoided recommending them, preferring instead to stick with 3000-mile recommended intervals despite the contrasting recommendations of vehicle manufacturers and European motor oil companies.
In fact, Marc Graham, president of Pennzoil-Quaker State-owned Jiffy Lube International, was quoted in a Lubricants World interview as saying, “At [PQS] we use a number internally that if we [shortened the drain interval] by 100 miles [for each car serviced], it would mean an additional $20 million in revenue for the company.” He also explained that “if we could move our customers to get one more oil change per year, it’s worth $294 million for the oil change alone and $441 million in revenue, when you include the ancillary products and services customers typically buy along with the oil change.”
Today, with vehicle manufacturers recommending longer and longer drain intervals and the increasing use of oil monitoring systems, the practice of extending drain intervals has become more mainstream and forced more motor oil companies to take notice. ExxonMobil, for example, recently introduced a line of long drain motor oils, and other motor oil companies will likely follow. As more motor oil companies begin offering extended drain motor oils, the extended drain interval idea pioneered by AMSOIL 34 years ago will become increasingly common.
According to a special report released last May by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), synthetic motor oils are key to extended drain technology: “Extended drain technology is primarily based on the availability of synthetic oils. While the additives in conventional, non-synthetic oils allow them to function longer than the traditional 3,000 miles, it is primarily the synthetic base stocks that allow the oil to last much longer. Synthetic oil offers many advantages in durability versus conventional petroleum oil and it is all based on the synthetic oil’s superior heat and oxidation resistance. Synthetic oil is more accurately controlled at the molecular level and therefore can be engineered to resist the forces in an engine that work against oil durability.” AMSOIL offers a complete line of premium quality synthetic motor oils formulated for extended drain intervals.
AMSOIL – The choice of Boyd Coddington. (now deceased)
Boyd called AMSOIL INC after being handed some material. Soon after he tested the products and right away knew AMSOIL was the best out there. Dealership Opportunities
AMSOIL Dealer Opportunities in 2015 provide you with the ultimate home business opportunity with 41 years of continuous growth and market leadership, without the need for significant investment of money. AMSOIL manufacturers Synthetic Motor Oils. They are exclusively distributed by Independent Dealers – People like you and me. Synthetic Oils are not created equal and AMSOIL is in high demand because of the unique qualities engineered into the base oils. Why is AMSOIL better? Because AMSOIL stays at the front of the lubricant trending industry introducing new technologies to the public where other well known brands avoid improvements due to costs and profits. If it’s leading edge you will find it here!
The motor industry is pointing consumers our way from every direction:
- Vehicle manufacturers are installing synthetic oil into new vehicles on the production line,
- New emission systems demand oils, which can take more heat and leave fewer deposits. Currently diesel engine technology has created problems which we have the best solution.
- As the economy is weakened, people want to secure their vehicles for life. Lubrication is the #1 factor to reducing heat and friction.
- The AMSOIL Bypass-Filter kits are now a top selling item – people want to preserve their equipment and save valuable time.
- They are demanding better lubrication qualities from the oil to improve fuel economy and engine cooling.
- Commercial vehicles Require synthetics in transmission and drivetrain parts to retain extended warranties.
- Environmentally we can not go on disposing of the millions of gallons of oil each year that is the bi-product of 3,000 mile oil change intervals – Imagine if everyone changed their oil at say 7,500 miles instead. The used oil disposal problem would be cut by 50%. Yes 50%, not just 1 or 2% – Now consider the impact of a 25,000 or 35,000 mile oil change interval and a Automatic Transmission fluid which reduces temperatures 50 degrees and lasts three times longer.
